Browns Investigations Limited offer professional, confidential surveillance work for business and private clients.  Browns have an established surveillance team of fourteen surveillance operatives strategically based in the north of the UK.  

Brief:

Browns Investigations Limited contacted San-IT with requirement of remote and covert surveillance equipment which linked into their existing IT infrastructure and the ability for surveillance operatives to access systems whilst involved on field based assignments.  
Director Andrew Brown said “the nature of our business is extremily confidential and security is paramount in every process and action that we undertake. Surveillance operatives are often involved in covert assignments which take them across seas so the ability to report in real time and have access to information is critical.” 
He continued to say “Technology plays a key role within our business and without it our operations become extremely difficult to conduct and manage.”           

Solution:

San-IT produced several proposals to reflect the budget which Browns had set. A Microsoft infrastructure was already in place which formed the backbone of the system.  Secure remote access was configured through a Cisco firewall and RSA authentication.  RSA is a two factor authentication based system which uses a password and a series of numbers which changes every five seconds.  This is one of the most secure authentication systems available on the market today. 

Next we configured the client side for remote access; each operative was supplied with a Panasonic Tough Book with GPRS/3G to enable internet access wherever the operative was working in the world. This allowed surveillance operatives to gain secure access to existing systems at the office and transmit critical information and data. We also configured various wireless covert devices which transmitted audio and video to the surveillance operative’s tough book and consequently back to the office. Finally we installed software which gave the ability remotely wipe a laptop within seconds should it have become compromised or stolen.
